Take a quick peek at the Cult of Mac blog for discussions about unofficial videos and movies formatted for the video iPod showing up on Internet sites. Stuff like Sin City starring WW’s favorite, Jessica Alba, and Nip/Tuck can be found ala BitTorrent.

Wired.com has an article about weblogs being filtered out at the workplace. The primary driver for disallowing blog access at work is the fear that “employees might leak sensitive material… while posting comments to blog message boards.”
Understandable. I just hope they don’t implement that policy where I am.

by Gee Why on October 23, 2005

in Uncategorized

Ate dinner at Los Chaparros, a new Mexican restaurant in the McCully area. Los Chaparros translates to “the shorties” and is run by the transplanted shorties, Mario and Lisa. The interior is spacious with a decor featuring an Aztec calendar and indoor fountains.
The food is tasty starting with plentiful chips and salsa (yes, free [...]

With the list of suspects getting shorter, the Carver gotta be Christian’s girlfriend, Kimber. Who else could have the planted evidence from the last episode “Granville Trapp?” Also, that dream sequence with Kimber before Christian was freed must have foreshadowed something. Christian did say that everyone he trusted turned their backs [...]

The Iolani School Bulletin, Fall 2005 issue, arrived in the mail today. Flipping through it, there’s a big section talking about Elements Spa & Salon on page 72 (PDF file available). I couldn’t find the class notes about the opening of the wildly successful Club 939! What an outrage!
Stew, did you forget [...]

Starbucks is creating a stir by putting a God-filled quote from the Rev. Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life, on its cups.
Here is the quote:

Today’s Apple Special Event wasn’t as exciting as the previous one with the video iPod. Today, we see the release of updated PowerBooks at a reduced cost and new PowerMacs. The PowerMacs continue to use the G5 PowerPC chip with the G4 in the PowerBooks, but the PowerMacs feature dual and even quad [...]

With the start of the NBA coming around the corner, a vendor is selling custom iPod cases featuring the logos of NBA teams. Too bad sporting an iPod with headphones violates the NBA’s new dress code for players.

Bad A** Minivan

by Gee Why on October 17, 2005

Speaking of self-promotion, you gotta love a guy with the gumption to sup up a 89 Dodge Caravan minivan and race that thing. Funny thing is he’s beaten folks on the racetrack. Here’s the rear view of the bad a** minivan.I wouldn’t do that to our Toyota Sienna. At most, I’d pimp out the [...]

Defense Security Posters

Some guy actually collected old security posters that many of us at work are familiar with. I haven’t seen the ones mentioned in his article, but some of them are just plain bad.

Read two interesting articles in today’s Honolulu Advertiser Business section. The first article talked about self-promotion, aka bragging, to get ahead at work. Kinda sounds like Kazuo’s mantra of “I may not be much, but I’m all I think about.”
The second article looks at how typical office cubicle farms are undergoing changes to [...]

Drove out to Waipahu to look at baby gear at USA Baby. Before going to the store, we stopped off at the Poke Stop, run by Chef Elmer Guzman formerly of Sam Choy’s Diamond Head Restaurant. Food is good but pricey.
For dinner, we tried Ige’s Restaurant and 19th Puka in Pearl City. [...]
